Canadians Amanda Harnett and Marie-Alex Bélanger
will compete for the women’s gold medal against
USA Katie Lindstrom and Teegan Van Gunst at the
Managua Beach Volleyball tournament, the 5th
stage of the NORCECA Tour.
The semifinals were pushed up to Saturday night
due to hurricane warnings for the City of
Managua. Heavy showers are expected so the medal
matches will be held on Sunday morning and
depending on the weather conditions, placing
matches will be continue during the day.
Medal matches are scheduled simultaneously at
9:00 am; the gold medal between Harnett/Bélanger
of Canada and Lindstrom/Van Gunst of United
States and the bronze with Devin Corah and Adiel
Goodman of Canada facing Mexican Abril Flores
and Esperanza Albarran.

2-0 (21-16, 21-18) in the first semifinal under
a light rain.
In the other semifinal, Katie Lindstrom and
Teegan Van Gunst managed a 2-0 (21-16, 21-18)
victory over a Mexico’s Abril Flores and
Esperanza Albarran.
On their way to reach the semifinals, Harnett/Bélanger
dominated Angel Williams and Kianny Araya
Quesada of Costa Rica 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) in
quarterfinals; while Lindstrom/Van Gunst subdued
Nicaraguan duo Socorro Lopez and Lolette
Rodriguez 2-0 (21-8, 21-14).
Also, to move into semifinals, Flores/Albarran
of Mexico beat
Petal Smith with Chauna Kelly of Jamaica
2-0 (21-8, 21-17) and Canadian pair Corah/Goodman
defeated Natalia Giron and Laura Quiñonez of
Guatemala.
Earlier in other results, in the round of 12 to
advance to quarterfinals,
Smith/Kelly of Jamaica beat locals Nahima Silva
and Kadderly Rosales
2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
In a Central American clash, Williams/Quesada of
Costa Rica came out on top 2-0 (21-13, 21-14)
